Are you inspired? Enlightening article about the characteristics that inspired people have in common, including openness to experience, and intrinsic motivation as opposed to being competitive with others. Well worth the read.

Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) vs iPhone 4 (ATT) –…

Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) vs iPhone 4 (ATT) — I’ve been running a side-by-side test for a week now. I like the Galaxy Nexus like I like going out with my friend’s 21 year-old brother, Tony: Tony is energetic and fun for a while — until I find him passed out at the table, after running up a big tab on my credit card.

If I’m having any fun — streaming music, navigating across town, checking email, viewing videos — the GN sucks up data like Tony sucks up drinks. And after a few hours, it’ll die without a charge. Having a super-fast 4G LTE connection (and it is fast) with great apps (and they are great) coupled with Verizon’s tiered data caps and the bandwidth suck of most functionality take all the fun out of using the GN. With the iPhone on ATT, I don’t have to think about maxing out. It pretty much gives me what I want when I expect it to, without reminding me to check my data usage. I realize this could change, but for now ATT wins on that score.

With the GN I should have known I was in for it when the Verizon tech suggested I move the power management bar to my home screen so I could turn functionality off and on as needed — wireless, GPS, brightness, bluetooth, sync services — so I wouldn’t drain my battery too fast. He also offered a second battery or a power-charged sleeve to add to my purchase. The problem is, I want my battery to last at least through the day without me having to manage it. It is a mobile device, after all. I don’t want to have to think about carrying around another battery or power sleeve in addition to what is an otherwise sleek and light device. Kind of kills the beauty of the design (and it is pretty beautiful).

I like the Galaxy Nexus’ bigger screen and form factor. I like the mobile hotspot option a lot. I like the seamless integration with all Google’s features and functionality. I like that I can get all the apps I use on the iPhone on the GN. I like the promise of NFC. If Samsung and Verizon fix the data suck and battery issues, the Galaxy Nexus would win my vote. Until, perhaps, iPhone 5…
